Corrections & Retractions Policy

Journal of Insect Biology and Applied Entomology (JIBAE)

The Journal of Insect Biology and Applied Entomology (JIBAE) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability and integrity of the scientific record. The journal follows a transparent policy for issuing corrections, expressions of concern, article withdrawals and retractions when necessary.

Any post-publication concern is reviewed carefully by the Editorial Office to ensure that appropriate action is taken in a fair, timely and responsible manner.

Policy Statement

JIBAE recognizes that errors may occasionally occur in published articles. When errors, ethical concerns or unreliable findings are identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern or retraction depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue.

The purpose of this policy is to protect the integrity of the published scientific literature while ensuring transparency for authors, readers, reviewers and indexing bodies.

Corrections

A correction may be published when an honest error is identified in a published article but the overall findings and conclusions remain valid.

  • Errors in author names, affiliations or contact details.
  • Minor errors in figures, tables or captions.
  • Typographical or formatting errors affecting interpretation.
  • Incorrect acknowledgements, funding details or conflict statements.
  • Errors that require clarification but do not invalidate the research.

Retractions

A retraction may be issued when the findings of an article are no longer reliable due to serious error, research misconduct or ethical violation. Retractions are intended to correct the scientific record, not to punish authors.

Unreliable Data

Findings are invalid due to major errors, fabricated data or falsified results.

Plagiarism

Substantial plagiarism or unauthorized use of another person’s work is identified.

Duplicate Publication

The same or substantially similar work has been published elsewhere without disclosure.

Ethical Violation

Research was conducted without required ethical approval or permissions.

Expressions of Concern

An expression of concern may be published when serious doubts arise about the integrity or reliability of a published article, but the investigation is still ongoing or evidence is not yet conclusive.

The expression of concern will remain linked to the article until the matter is resolved through correction, retraction or confirmation that no further action is required.

Article Withdrawal

Article withdrawal may be considered before final publication in exceptional circumstances, such as accidental duplicate submission, serious ethical concern, author request with valid reason or legal issue.

Withdrawal after acceptance or publication is generally discouraged unless there is a strong ethical, legal or scientific justification.

Correction and Retraction Process

  • The concern is reported to the Editorial Office.
  • The Editorial Office reviews the issue and relevant evidence.
  • Authors may be contacted for clarification or supporting documentation.
  • Expert advice may be sought from editors, reviewers or institutions.
  • A final editorial decision is made based on evidence and publication ethics.
  • The correction, expression of concern or retraction notice is published where required.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for promptly notifying the journal if they identify a significant error or issue in their published article. Authors are expected to cooperate with the Editorial Office during any investigation or correction process.

  • Report errors immediately after discovery.
  • Provide accurate clarification and supporting evidence.
  • Cooperate with editorial investigations.
  • Approve correction notices where appropriate.

Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for evaluating post-publication concerns fairly and confidentially. Editorial decisions are based on evidence, publication ethics and the need to preserve the accuracy of the scientific record.

Retraction Notice

A retraction notice will clearly identify the retracted article and explain the reason for retraction. The original article may remain accessible with a clear retraction label to preserve the scholarly record.

Retraction notices are issued to correct the academic record and inform readers about serious concerns affecting the reliability or integrity of a published article.

Journal Commitment

The Journal of Insect Biology and Applied Entomology is committed to ensuring that published research remains accurate, transparent and trustworthy. The journal will take appropriate corrective action whenever necessary to protect the integrity of scientific communication.

JIBAE supports responsible post-publication correction practices to maintain confidence in the published scientific record.
